Above this a plume of scarlet osprey feathers (with a gilt ring) rose to a height of 8 inches from upright gold leaves on a gilt corded ball. A scarlet cloth bag, hanging on the right side of the busby, was trimmed around the seam and down the centre line with gold braid. At the bottom, where the braids met, was a 1-inch gold gimp button. Under the bag, at the top of the cap, was a gilt ring to hold the cap lines and a gilt hook to loop up the gilt chin chain. The cap lines of gold pearl cord with slides led from under the bag to around the neck with the olive ends fastened on the right of the chest.
The fringe is silver. 2 King's Guidon, 1760: Crimson ground with natural colour rose and thistle intertwined. Silver crown and scroll (lettered black). Green quarter patches 'KLD' in silver (natural colour wreath). White horses with silver border surround. The Guidon is fringed silver. 3 King's Guidon, circa 1800: Crimson silk ground, fringed gold. Scarlet centre patch with gold lion surrounded by blue garter and scrolls all lettered gold. The Royal Cypher below the centre scroll is a gold 'GR' on a scarlet ground surrounded by green laurels.
